LEADING TRADE PUBLICATION'S WEBCAST WITH EXECUTIVES FROM EMERSON AND ULTRIVA DEMONSTRATES INDUSTRY’S INTEREST IN "LEAN" EXECUTION.
Almost 1,000 Live Listeners Makes the Event One of IndustryWeek’s Most Viewed Events in the Last 12 Months
CUPERTINO, Calif., January 23, 2007 – Ultriva Inc., the world leader in lean manufacturing software, today announced that IndustryWeek’s recent Webcast “Emerson Lean: From Strategy to Execution” was one of the publication’s most popular events of the past year. The publication, which connects decision-makers within manufacturing enterprises to share ideas and tools that inspire action, reported that more than 1,600 persons registered for the webcast and 977 attended it. The numbers topped all but two of the more than 40 webcasts IndustryWeek (IW) hosted during the past year. In addition, Ray Keefe from Emerson received the highest presenter rating ever recorded since IW began tracking this metric."
The event featured Ray Keefe, Vice President of Manufacturing from Emerson, who spoke about how Emerson builds its Lean strategies around key business objectives, such as return on total capital and on-time delivery performance. Emerson (NYSE: EMR) is a diversified global technology company that provides products and services for a wide range of industries, commercial markets and end-users, including consumers. Recognized widely for its engineering capabilities and outstanding management process, Emerson has more than 115,000 employees and 275 manufacturing locations worldwide. Keefe talked about the impact Electronic Kanban has had on Emerson’s business and gave examples of how this modern technology can change business.
Keefe showed examples of the results Emerson has generated in the company’s power supplies, controls and valves businesses. In one case, raw material inventory turns were increased 75%, in another supplier lead times were reduced 26% and in the third supplier on-time delivery performance improved 15% while non-Kanban supplier’s performance decreased 9%. Emerson is currently using Ultriva’s Electronic Kanban software in 22 of its plants in 7 countries and plans on rapidly increasing its usage of Electronic Kanban with another 15 plants set to deploy in the near future.
The second presenter at the webcast was Ashley Stirrup, Chief Executive Officer of Ultriva. Stirrup added the key lessons Ultriva has learned during its seven years of providing Electronic Kanban tools to major manufacturers such as Emerson. Stirrup’s presentation included specific examples of inventory sizing, supplier collaboration and continuous improvement reporting.
